Success Speaks For Itselfs

As demand for the unique Tutor Doctor service continues to increase, our UK franchisees have grown, on average, by over 50% year-on-year. This trend is not expected to slow down, especially when one considers new curriculum changes for Primary Schools, with Secondary Schools following suit shortly. This is likely to put extra pressure on teachers, schools, parents and students to achieve more.

The professionalism of the Tutor Doctor brand can be clearly seen in the success of its Franchisees at the British Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year Awards. For two years running Tutor Doctor has had the honour of being represented in the final 16 out of a total of nearly 45,000 franchisees across all sectors. Alex Scotchbrook was a finalist in 2013 in the Female Franchisee of the Year category, and in 2014 Joyce Batten has made it through to the finals in the same category.

Success and growth within the Tutor Doctor network has been outstanding. 43% of our franchisees have expanded their success across multiple territories, 3 of which are in the UK owning 11 territories between them!

Alexandra Scotchbrook has been a Tutor Doctor franchisee since 2009 starting with her territory in Guildford. Since then she has expanded to Camberley, Woking and Farnham.

Owning and running her Tutor Doctor franchise has been the biggest change for Alex since leaving corporate life.  As an employed person, she was grateful for all the security and protection her role gave to her, but she did not have ownership of the overall role.

“Now my future is down to me, so the guaranteed security has gone but it has been replaced by something more wonderful and fulfilling: a genuine opportunity to do something that will positively influence a child’s life, and the feeling of Equal Business Stature with clients, fellow-franchisees and Head Office alike.  My future is my own now, but with Tutor Doctor I’m guaranteed great company with truly decent people along the way.”

It is obvious from Alex’s enthusiasm that she clearly loves what she is doing and is not longing to return to corporate life, as far as she is concerned the only way is UP!

Rob Kerrison has been running his Tutor Doctor franchise in Cambridge since 2010 with his wife Lynne.

Rob embarked on a very successful career in Sales & Marketing, after completing his Business degree. He worked for a number of blue chip organisations, in senior roles. Rob decided he wanted to run his own business in summer 2010; and feels that it is the best thing he’s ever done.

“At Tutor Doctor what we do is help children to be as good as they can be. Why would anyone not want to do this?  Also it was a franchise opportunity that was very much aligned to our own agenda and skill set, as well as tying in perfectly to the local market in Cambridge, where education is valued by the families, and qualified tutors are in high demand. We’ve always worked very hard at everything we do and with Tutor Doctor we found a way to channel our energies and skills into something we really believed in.”

Joyce Elaine Batten’s journey with Tutor Doctor started in 2011 and covers the Bromley, part of South East London, part of Croydon and part of Dartford areas.

Joyce has a very varied background, but for the 25 years before joining Tutor Doctor she was a senior executive in the social housing sector in a number of capacities, however a change in her personal life led her to review her life.

“I had a wish to do something different. I had often seen a Franchise Exhibition advertised so I took the opportunity to attend one in February 2011 at the Excel centre in order to see what was on offer.”

“One of the most important aspects was to be able to speak to some franchise owners to learn about their experiences.  After speaking to 8 owners, I was convinced that the Tutor Doctor business was one I wanted to own.”
