Select Appointments, one of the UK’s leading staffing companies and recruitment franchisors, has welcomed the news that one in four UK businesses are hiring despite reduced confidence caused by the EU referendum.
According to the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s latest JobsOutlook survey, almost a quarter (23 per cent) of UK employers plan to take on more permanent staff in the next three months, with only three percent planning a reduction in their permanent headcount. Businesses are also seeking more temporary workers, with 81 per cent planning to maintain or increase their use of agency workers in the run up to Christmas.
However, just 25 per cent of employers surveyed in July - September think UK economic conditions are improving.
“The good news for everyone involved in recruitment is companies are still hiring despite reduced confidence in the UK economy following the EU referendum,” explains Suzie McCafferty, managing director of Select Appointments.
“Almost a quarter of businesses are increasing their permanent headcount, with more than three quarters taking on more temporary workers in the run up to Christmas. The initial shock of the Brexit vote is now subsiding, and therefore most UK organisations are now cautiously moving forward.”
